URL Nest Support

Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 15, 2026

This policy describes how URL Nest handles information when you save and organize links. For questions, contact the URL Nest developer at vgowda@gmail.com.

Your bookmark library

URL Nest stores saved URLs, titles, notes, folders, favorites, and creation dates locally on your device. The app does not require an account. If you enable optional device linking, the app uploads encrypted library snapshots to the sync service hosted on Netlify. The library encryption key stays on your linked devices. Unlinked libraries remain local. Device linking is not an account-based recovery or backup service. Device-level backups may be handled separately by your operating system and backup settings.

Optional linked devices and folder PINs

Device linking lets a phone approve a browser by scanning its QR code. Camera permission is used to scan that code; the app does not upload camera footage. The sync service stores encrypted library snapshots, revision numbers, hashed device credentials, browser labels, linking times and temporary pairing records. Netlify may process ordinary connection metadata, such as IP addresses, to host and protect the service. Pairing codes expire after five minutes; expired pairing records are removed by scheduled cleanup after a retention window.

Device keys and credentials are stored in native secure storage or browser-local storage. Linked devices keep a downloaded library for offline access. Unlinking a browser blocks future server access but cannot erase copies it has already obtained while offline. There is no account-based recovery if the phone credentials are lost. Folder PINs are stored as salted verifiers inside the library and sync between linked devices. PINs hide content in the app but do not separately encrypt folders or protect against someone controlling a linked device.

Links shared with the app and clipboard access

When you choose URL Nest in another app’s share menu, URL Nest processes the link and any accompanying title to prepare a bookmark. When you tap Save a link, URL Nest reads clipboard text to look for a URL and fill in the form. It does not continuously monitor your clipboard. Your operating system may ask permission to paste. You can also type a URL manually.

Optional AI search

When you choose Search with AI, your search phrase is sent through our Netlify function to OpenAI to interpret topics and alternatives. Saved URLs, titles, descriptions, notes, folder names, PINs and device credentials are not included in that request. Matching is performed on your device, and locked folders stay excluded. The function does not persist your search phrase and requests that the provider not store the response; provider operational and abuse-monitoring retention may still apply under its policies. AI search is optional and regular search remains available.

Website titles and previews

URL Nest also uses available titles, descriptions, authors and your saved notes to create local background search tags. These help match searches for people, topics and videos. Search metadata is stored with the bookmark and included in encrypted sync when enabled. No AI provider receives this information. Locked folders are excluded from background metadata requests and search results until unlocked.

For Prime Video title previews in the web app, the individual link is sent to a Netlify preview function, which requests public metadata from Prime Video. Only the title URL is sent; notes, folders, PINs and sync credentials are not included. No Amazon login cookies are used and no persistent preview cache is stored by this function.

URL Nest makes network requests to linked websites, official metadata services such as YouTube and TikTok oEmbed, and image hosts to obtain suggested titles, descriptions, and thumbnails. These requests can occur when importing or entering a URL and when displaying saved cards.

The contacted services receive the requested URL and ordinary network information, such as your IP address and request headers. URLs may themselves contain identifiers or query parameters. These services may keep logs under their own privacy policies. URL Nest does not send your personal notes or folder names with these preview requests. Preview information may be cached on your device.

When you open a saved link, the destination website, browser, or other app handles your visit under its own privacy practices. URL Nest does not control those services or their data retention.

For Facebook previews in the web app, the individual Facebook link is sent to a Netlify preview function, which requests public metadata from Facebook. It does not receive the rest of your library, notes, PINs or device-sync credentials. The function does not use Facebook login cookies, execute embed scripts or keep a persistent preview cache. Private or login-only content may have no thumbnail. Preview lookups are separate from encrypted library synchronization.

Analytics, advertising, and tracking

The current app does not include developer-operated analytics, advertising SDKs, or cross-app advertising tracking. We do not sell your bookmark library or use it for targeted advertising. Apple may process App Store, TestFlight, or diagnostic information according to its policies and your settings.

Support requests

If you email support, your email address, message, and any attachments are received through our email provider and used to respond and troubleshoot. Do not send passwords or sensitive information. Support correspondence is retained as needed to handle the request and related follow-up; you can request deletion by emailing the same address, subject to any applicable legal retention obligations.

Retention and deletion

Saved bookmarks remain on your device until you delete them or the app’s data is removed. You can edit or delete individual bookmarks in the app. Deleting a folder moves its bookmarks to Inbox rather than deleting them. Deleting the app may remove your saved library. Device backups are managed separately through your operating system. We do not have your library encryption key and cannot recover your bookmarks from encrypted snapshots. An unlinked local library is not uploaded. Linked-library ciphertext remains on the hosting service until it is removed from that service; this version has no in-app deletion of the complete cloud library. The owner phone can revoke browsers individually.

Children

URL Nest is a general-purpose bookmark organizer and is not specifically directed at children. It does not request a date of birth or provide age verification. Linked websites may contain content unsuitable for children.

Changes and contact

We will update this page when the app’s privacy practices change and revise the date above. For privacy questions or requests concerning information you have sent to support, email vgowda@gmail.com.
